intro3Christina Fezile Dlangwana (aka) Tina

Christina Fezile Dlangwana (aka) Tina demonstrated a clear aptitude for music at an early age. She could sing on perfect pitch as a young child, replicating the sound of any given note. Tina performed in talent shows as a young girl, singing for friends and performing at local folk-music festivals. She also led both her church's choir and her high school choir.

Raised by a single mom who supported her since she was a little girl, she always enjoyed singing and has always known that singing would be her focus after she finished school. She graduated John Bisseker High School in 2002.

She then joined a jazz group called Vision Extreme where she was trained for a year, while touring all over Africa performing, motivating the youth through music and drama.  Her vocal range is remarkably diverse, and has a gospel-influenced fused traditional music. The Diva has been compared to our own South African Legends (Lebo Mathosa and Brenda Fassie and Busi Mhlongo).  She worked as a trainee corporate financier while she was busy finishing her marketing and finance Com courses through UNISA.

Tina’s Musical career....

One day when she was singing songs by the likes of Miriam Makeba and Letta Mbulu at a lounge in Pretoria, she was spotted by the mega star Thebe. “We got talking and I told him that aside from being a singer I was a choreographer so he asked me to come and work with his dancers…” In the end aside from choreographing Thebe's dancers, she also co wrote Thebe tracks like 'Nomathemba' and naturally ended up rocking live on stage with him.

Tina just loves to dance, and it shows. So of course it was these impressive Thebe performances that gave her a big break. She remembers, “Trompies member and Kalawa co-owner Mandla ‘Spikiri’ Mofokeng was at a gig and he was like ‘Wow we need this at Kalawa, she can dance and she’s strong vocally. I’m calling my partners, let’s meet on Monday…’” She was signed on the spot to the biggest dance label in South Africa and released UFezile and now Music is Power.
Her research resulted in Music Is Power having not only a remix of the 2007 hit ‘Umthwalo’ by New York house producer Dennis Ferrer (that has been released internationally), but also a variety of flavours. Tina has worked with the best artist and producers such as Oskido, Dennis Ferrer, Spikiri, Theo (Mafikizolo), Master Waxy.

She released her two videos called Umthwalo and Bangiloyile in 2007. In May 2009 she released a single and a music video called Yashinduku from the highly successful album titled Music is Power which was released in November 2009.
The same album is due to be released internationally this year, 2010 owing to its success worldwide.

Undoubtedly one of the finest performers Mzansi has ever seen. Within such a short space of time she has already made a name for herself in big communities like the UK and Germany  where she has performed and become a household name several times since 2007.

After meeting the music guru Prosper Mkwaiwa, her lover partner has taken over the entire repositioning of the Tina Dlangwana brand and has embarked on a path to raise the profile of such immensely talented singing sensation.
